Since entering the legal profession, Bart has focused on administrative law, specializing in environmental and planning law in the broadest sense. Clients rely on him as a trusted advisor on environmental, planning, and energy regulations. He regularly steers multidisciplinary matters, including corporate transactions, commercial contracts, joint ventures, regulatory compliance, bank and private equity financing, and major infrastructure projects – ranging from solar parks and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to onshore and offshore wind farms. In addition, he counsels clients on EU, national, provincial, and municipal subsidies, REACH compliance, and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
As a dedicated energy specialist, Bart combines deep legal acumen with active monitoring of technical and policy developments across the industry. This proactive approach enables him to pinpoint emerging commercial opportunities alongside legal solutions amidst the sector’s rapid transition. He delivers pragmatic legal strategies that not only satisfy regulatory frameworks, but also directly advance his clients’ commercial and operational objectives.
Throughout his legal career, Bart completed two Grotius Academy post-graduate specialisation programmes. He trains corporate teams, lectures on ‘Negotiating with Public Authorities’ at the Law Firm School, and conducts the course’s oral examinations. Furthermore, Bart serves on the board of the Dutch Energy Law Association (NeVER) and co-founded its multidisciplinary ‘Energy Law on Location’ training initiative.
